The Making of a Master Mechanic

Rod Young, Tankless Solutions owner, has been mechanically inclined from very early on, starting with a passion for building race cars. His love and knowledge of race car mechanics led him to become a mechanic on an NHRA top-fuel race team, where he assisted his top-fuel team in making history - first female race car driver to exceed 300 mph! This exciting work took Rod to Australia, Japan, and all over the U.S.

Having grown up in Anchorage, Alaska, Rod has had a passion for racing snowmachines (also known in the “Lower 48” as snowmobiles) since he was big enough to climb onto one. Rod took his passion to an extreme level by competing in the longest snowmachine race in the world, the Iron Dog...TWICE. Traveling in two-person teams, racers must carry along any parts or tools it may take to keep their sleds running during the grueling journey from Anchorage to Nome...and back!

In addition to understanding the mechanics of snowmachine motors, Rod also spent many years in Anchorage working in the marine industry. He managed a Yamaha service department, installing, repairing, and servicing Yamaha outboard boat motors. A master of his trade, folks from all over the state of Alaska would either ship their outboards to Rod or fly Rod out to their boats to ensure their outboards were analyzed and serviced by an expert.

For Rod, mechanical talents have served him well all his life and have brought him great joy. He has made friends with people from a wide span of mechanical industries through their shared interest in how to make machines run optimally. Now a highly trained mechanic of high-efficiency condensing tankless water heaters and boilers, Rod has a true and deep understanding of what it takes to ensure proper engineering of residential and commercial tankless systems. He is a humble perfectionist, who believes in doing things right the first time. Entrusting Rod with your hot water needs will ensure quality and service at its best.
